Q1. What’s your identity?
Anthropomorphic black panther.
Q2. Do you feel connected or take on many forms?
Nope. I’ve had flavors of fox and centaur creep in every now and then, but it’s pretty much just anthro-panther.
Q3. If your identity changes, how often roughly?
It doesn’t.
Q4. How did you find out your identity? Did your dreams give you any clues? Or what you like and dislike?
I don’t think I really “found out” my identity, as such. When I was little, I had a tail. I knew this. It was simply a part of my life. It wasn’t until I got a little older and realized that most people don’t have body parts they can feel but not see, that I pushed it away and just didn’t think about it. I still felt it, but I ignored it. Through happenstance, I found this site, about three years ago, and it was like a lightbulb clicked on. That yes, I could feel this way, and yes, I am actually feline, even though I don’t look like it. Now I had a name for it. But I always knew.
Q5. Do you feel different now then before you awakened?
Yes and no. I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, having a name for what I am. But again, I didn’t actually have an awakening, per se.
Q6. Do you have lots of non-kin friends and get along with non-kin well? Or do you not get along well with non-kin as you’re too different?
All my friends are non-kin. I don’t know anybody in person who is kin. I can’t imagine it would be any different, being friends with someone who’s kin. Simply being kin doesn’t mean someone is anything like me. There’s so many different kinds of kin, and so many other things that go into making someone who they are. Being kin is only part of it.
Q7. Before you knew you were therian or otherkin did you have your “own world”? As in did you feel alien and would try to contact your home planet or were you “on your own” with no other planet that you knew you came from? If you know what I mean.
When I was a kid, I used to think that I was from somewhere else. Another planet or universe or something. I remember wishing so hard that I could go back, even though I didn’t know where it was that I wanted to go back to. But there was no contact or anything. I knew that my mom gave birth to me and everything, but I felt like, despite that fact, that I was from some other place. But even now, I don’t know what that other place is, where it is, what it looks like, nothing. (Or, I shouldn’t say nothing, because I have a single mental photo.)
Q8. Before you knew you were kin, did you feel as if you didn’t belong anywhere, as if you were adopted or something?
Yes. Even though I’m the splitting image of my mom, I always felt like this wasn’t my life, that I was supposed to be somewhere else.
Q9. Any tips that could help me find out my kin type? Guide me in the right direction?
Honestly, I don’t have any advice. For me, personally, there wasn’t anything to figure out. I just knew.
